Marni Bacharier

Marni is a self taught guitarist, who has been playing for 9 years.
After hearing a CD by her idol and inspiration, Melissa Etheridge, Marni bought a guitar and started to play.
Over the last 4 years, she fell ill and was forced to spend months on end at home in bed recuperating. To keep herself occupied (and sane) she began writing songs.

By day, Marni works as the Director of Programming for CTV's (Canadian Television Network's) new Travel channel and has produced such successful series as Entertainment Now, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Canadian Edition, A Mother's Love: The Joyce Milgaard Story and cult fave, RoadCrew.

Through her career, Marni met up with Musical Producer and Composer Guy Zerafa. Guy was impressed with her music and the two began collaborating in their spare time...until now.

As composer of the film "Full Time Killer", Guy decided to slot one of Marni's song into the score. The film's producer and director were so pleased, they ended up taking another of Marni's original compositions for the film as well. "Young Girl Standing" was actually the second original song Marni had ever written.

"No Fear to Fall" was originally written for Marni's good friend Carla Collins. Before getting married, Carla asked Marni if she would sing at the wedding, Marni agreed and decided to write a special song for the occasion, though she refused to let Carla hear it until the night it would be performed. Neither Carla, her husband, nor any of the hundreds of guests knew what to expect. When Marni was introduced as "a friend of Carla's who was going to sing a song that she had written for the bride and groom", the room fell into an uneasy silence. The whispering began and people were waiting for a schmaltzy version of "Smelly Cat". When the song, began, the crowd was mesmerized and upon it's final note, there was not a dry eye in the house. Marni received a standing ovation and her love of performing live became clear.

It was at that wedding that Marni and Michael got to talking about starting a band. Right then and there "Marni & The Men" was born.
